Kuleana Education Parent Portal Privacy Policy

Kuleana Education, Inc. (“Kuleana,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Kuleana Education Parent Portal to help families access school announcements, calendar information, field-trip information, forms, payments, programs, school information, and contact resources.

Information the app processes

Parents and guardians sign in using an approved email address and password. Authentication is provided by Google Firebase Authentication. Kuleana does not receive or store the parent’s plain-text password. Kuleana administrators maintain the approved email list and may deactivate or remove access when a family leaves the school. When a user enables push notifications, Firebase may also generate technical identifiers for that app installation and device, including a notification registration token.

Authorized Kuleana administrators may sign in with Google. For those administrative users, the app may process the Google account email address and authentication identifier needed to verify administrative access.

Technical service providers may also process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as device/browser information, operating-system information, app version, IP address, timestamps, and service logs.

Student and family information

The Parent Portal itself is not designed to store student names, grades, health records, payment-card information, or other student records. Some buttons open external forms or services where families may choose to provide information. Information submitted through those external services is governed by the privacy practices of the service receiving the information.

Push notifications

Push notifications are optional. If a user enables notifications, the app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to register the device and deliver Kuleana school alerts. Users can disable notifications at any time through their device or browser settings.

Payments and external services

The app may link to third-party services, including Square and Venmo, for payments, and may link to Google services and other websites for calendars, forms, waivers, or school resources. Kuleana does not receive or store payment-card credentials through the Parent Portal. Third-party services process information under their own privacy policies and terms.

How information is used

Information processed by the app is used to operate the Parent Portal, deliver requested notifications, secure administrative functions, maintain the service, and provide families with school information and resources.

Sharing and sale of information

Kuleana does not sell personal information collected through the Parent Portal. Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate the app, such as Google Firebase, and by third-party services that users choose to open from the app.

Account deletion

Parents and guardians can permanently delete their Parent Portal account from Account & Privacy > Delete My Account inside the app. This removes the Firebase Authentication account, approved Parent Portal access record, and associated push-notification subscriptions. Account deletion does not automatically delete school enrollment, academic, health, financial, legal, or other records that Kuleana Education may be required or permitted to retain separately.

Data retention and choices

Approved parent email records are retained while needed to provide family portal access and may be deactivated or removed when a family leaves Kuleana. Notification subscription records are retained while needed to deliver alerts and may be removed when they become invalid or are no longer needed. Users may disable notifications through their device settings. To request removal of an account or notification subscription, or to ask a privacy question, contact us using the information below.

Children

The Parent Portal is intended primarily for parents, guardians, and Kuleana staff. It is not designed as a child-directed social or account service and does not provide student account creation.

Security

We use access controls and Firebase security rules designed to restrict administrative actions and protect app data. No internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Parent Portal changes. The current version will be posted at this URL with the updated date shown above.
